Bug Jam 22

Nostalgia Display - Back to '89

The Back to 89 display returns for it’s 7th year at Santa Pod Raceway & if you have never set foot in the display before, let me (Stu) try to explain what it’s all about in the words of Keith Seume’s “Volkstalk”.

“Many of you will be familiar with Stu’s ‘Back to ‘89’ displays at several shows over the last couple of years, which have comprised some of the best-known show cars built since – well, you guessed it – 1989, or thereabouts. These impressive displays have served two purposes: one is to show newcomers how we have arrived at the current VW scene in the UK, the other is to remind some of us old-stagers just how exciting many of the early cars really were”.

Back to 89 Back to 89 Back to 89

Over at the ‘Back to 89’ Nostalgia Display we have 21 years worth of X show cars from yesteryear to celebrate the 21 year anniversary of Bug Jam. There are more new cars this year than ever before, we welcome back the Lilac Wizard Roadster originally built by Steve Kay, the Dan Deering Colorado blue Cabrio from the States, not one, not two, but four Targa bugs in their own line up within the display & finally my own Project 84 bug (providing it’s finished) bringing back the roots as a homage to Rick Permain’s bug from this era. We should have around 30 cars in the display, taking you back to 89.

If you are reading this & you have an aircooled show car that was well known on the scene before 1998, please contact me to put your car in the display for Sunday on 07880 525604. I look forward to seeing you over at the display.

Back to 89 The Back to ’89 Nostalgia Display runs alongside the main Show & Shine competition in front of the main outdoor stage on Sunday only from 9am – 1pm.
