T2D To Create Ultimate Rat Look Bus at Bug Jam 23

Bug Jam always manages to pack its 3 days full of high-octane high-jinks, but this year we will raise the bar yet again, with respected VW customers and restorers T2D preparing to undertake a full build of a ‘Rat Look’ VW camper over the weekend.

For those not familiar with the term, ‘Rat Look’ is a charming blend of a vehicle with much of its character and original un-restored patina intact, combined with show-quality mechanicals and drive train. The project being undertaken by T2D is no exception, being a a sunburnt and bleached bus originally sourced from Death Valley in California, USA.

Over the weekend T2D boss Paul Medhurst and his team plan to undertake extensive modifications including hydraulic suspension, full custom interior and fully restored and uprated engine. Completing this amount of work in just three days presents many challenges, but Medhurst remains optimistic. ‘We’d normally allocate several weeks for this kind of project.’ he smiled. ‘But thanks to the team we’ve assembled, I’m sure we can start and finish this project within the time constraints of Bug Jam. I don’t think we’ll sleep much though!’

The build will be covered as part of the TV documentary being filmed about the VW festival, which will be aired later in the year on Motors, Men & Motors and possibly, ITV4. As well as the challenging build, viewers and showgoers can expect the usual eclectic blend of racing, showing, dancing, selling, trading, stunting, chilling - and of course live music, with chart-toppers Dodgy heading this years superb sound stage line-up.
