Act Descriptions
The Wonder Stuff

The Wonder Stuff formed in 1986 and their second release 'Unbearable' was a UK Indie Chart Number One single. Touring being the band’s main activity they recorded their debut album, 'The Eight Legged Groove Machine'.

From their second album 'HUP', all three single releases were Top 20 Hits in the UK before 'Circlesquare' once again achieved Top 20 status. Their third album, 'Never Loved Elvis', produced four hit singles, including a collaboration with Kirsty MacColl on the song ‘Welcome To The Cheap Seats’ and the band’s first Top 5 hit with ‘The Size Of A Cow’.

In 1991 the band recorded 'Dizzy' with Vic Reeves which reached Number One in the Official UK Singles Charts.

The Farm

The Farm's first song to reach the upper end of the UK singles chart was "Groovy Train", which reached the Top Ten in September 1990. Later that year, they released their most famous song, "All Together Now", which became a hit.

It was on the crest of this wave that their album 'Spartacus' reached #1 in the UK. However, this success was short-lived, and their first single for a major label (Sony Records), "Love See No Colour", did not perform well, which led to a split from their producers. The band joined up with Mark Saunders, the man who had produced Erasure and The Cure. They released a cover of The Human League's "Don't You Want Me", which reached the Top Twenty. In 1994, they released the album 'Hullabaloo' on the Sire label, followed by their last major single.

IC1s

IC1s are 5 lads from West London, the band formed by chance in summer 2010 over a mutual respect for music and being excellent. Since then the band have started making their move up the food chain with their cock sure brand of Indie Rock played the way it should be, loud. After conquering their local town in 3 minutes and 17 seconds the band branched out and have already played with the likes of The Cribs, The Charlatans and Buzzcocks. The boys aren't messing about on their journey to the top, converting the masses as they go. Their fans love them, now its your turn..."

Dustland

This band is influenced by the darker side of pop which could perhaps be traced back to sometime in the early 70’s and the experimental sound of the early kraut rock pioneers.

Add to the mix a little bit of detroit acid house underground superstar Joey Beltram, country legend Johhny Cash and the ambition of early U2 and the resulting sound is evident in their first single. “I want to make the guitars sound like synths!” says band member Nathan in a more lucid moment.

The Candle Thieves

The band is the brainchild of two serious songwriters, who wear big, thick-framed glasses, walk out onto the stage to the sound of the Jaws theme tune, set off bubble machines, and play glockenspiels, toy pianos, shakers and snares. They summon up the spirits of Eels, Sufjan Stevens, and the Lucksmiths in their sounds, but make wonderful songs that are utterly their own.

Usual Players

'If Mike Skinner had an illicit affair with The Jam....'

Formed in 2009 through a shared love of soulful music and honest lyrics, their debut album 'StreetSka: VOL 1', is out July 4th. The band address the internal dialogue of those who believe in an absence of irony on today's streets with tracks such as 'Fancy a Facebook?', 'Tat's too bad' and 'Soul of Rock and Roll (is dead)'. Like throwing spears from a Trojan horse, Usual Players are masters of the hustle, dressing their biting wit and lyrical cynicism in notoriously infectious, foot stomping hooks!

Silent Disco

The concept is exquisitely simple. Give everyone a set of twin channel wireless headphones; have two DJs playing different styles of music transmitted directly to those headphones; everybody dances sings too . . . but not all to the same tune!

It’s hysterical for onlookers as they watch dancers cavorting around the floor to music only they can hear.  If you’ve ever heard anyone on the bus or tube accidentally singing along to an iPod, then you’ll get the idea. Bored with one song – then at the flick of a switch you can be grooving to something completely different.  Take off your headphones for a moment and check out the mayhem in the room.  Bizarre!

We play what we love and we love what we play.
